Minnesota electric customers can earn up to a $450 rebate for eligible central air conditioners.

Heating and cooling your home typically accounts for 50 percent of your energy bill. A new, high-efficiency natural gas furnace with an ECM (Electronically Commutated [fan] Motor) offers the biggest bang for your buck. You'll save on your energy bills for years to come without compromising your comfort or safety.

The heating rebate program is available to qualifying Xcel Energy customers who receive our residential natural gas service for heating system rebates and electric service for ECM rebates.
Eligible Minnesota residents can receive up to $500 in rebates.

Rebates lower the initial cost of high-efficiency equipment, which costs less to operate and is better for the environment.
Eligibility & Details
Xcel electric customers are eligible. Testing is only possible if the outside temperature is 55 degrees or higher, and rebates will not be paid until contractors have tested the unit. Please keep in mind that you may not receive your rebate until spring if you have your unit installed in the late fall or winter.

The small size and flexibility for zoning for heating and cooling individual rooms make a ductless mini-split heat pump a great choice when additional ductwork isn’t an option. Since each air handler has its own thermostat, you can condition the space only when it’s occupied, saving you energy and money.

Studies have shown that more than 75% of central air conditioners are operating below their rated performance. This causes wasted energy, decreases comfort, and shortens the life of air conditioning equipment. These problems can be addressed when units are properly installed and maintained.
That is why we have developed the high efficiency cooling rebate. To qualify for the rebate, the central air conditioning unit or air source heat pump must be installed by a qualified HVAC contractor that has successfully completed the HVAC/R Education qualifications and testing.
Residential members of Stearns Electric Association who purchase and install a qualifying Energy Star® rated air conditioner or air source heat pump from one of our registered contractors may receive a rebate. Qualifying units must be purchased and installed by a registered contractor between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.

Rebates are only available for the purchase of a new Energy Star rated appliance purchased on or after January 1, 2017. The appliance must be installed where electricity is supplied by Stearns Electric Association.
To receive these rebates print the appropriate application below, fill it out and mail it to address listed on the form. The receipt of the appliance purchase must also be included.
